Jean Philippe Solnom, Chocolatier
One would never guess upon meeting Jean Philippe Solnom that he is a world class chef chocolatier. The French accent is an unmistakable clue. However, here is a humble and quietly unassuming man, called 'JP' by friends, who loves to golf when time and weather permits, and ironically, is a fan of the M&M's characters. Which brings us to his chocolate story.

Jean Philippe Solnom grew up near Vichy, France. His culinary education began with pastry studies. During this time he discovered a love for working with chocolate. This took him from four years of pastry study at the Centre de
Formation Apprentissage de Patisserie in France, to four more years of chocolate specialization at Lacoba in Switzerland. Each of his numerous educational, work and award credits moved him closer to becoming the master Chocolatier he is today. Notable are experiences while working at Chocolatier Mertzeisen in Vichy. There he was awarded second place at the Salon du Chocolat in Paris. At Mertzeisen, he also had the honor of working with Robert Linxe, creator of the renowned La Maison du Chocolat of Paris, for instruction in ganache formulation.

The door of this chapter came to an end with the closing of Mertzeisen due to the sudden death of its owner. A sad event, which fortunately for us, opened the door to his new chapter in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Initially, Jean Philippe was with Le Cezanne in Wyoming, and most recently, he was the manager of pastry for the Jean Robert French Restaurant Group.

Now that his English is better established, Jean Philippe offers his chocolate and pastry expertise locally for the enjoyment of the people of Greater Cincinnati. Jean Philippe Solnom's innovative style combines his chocolate with distinct flavors. He is always looking for a challenge, assuring us that his flavor combinations will continue to grow and delight. Jean Philippe draws inspiration from experiences with his mentors Michel Merzeisen, Jean Philippe Maury of the Bellagio in Las Vegas, and Robert Linxe.
